Senior Engineer Ian West playing the fool with Tony Pine in the backgound!

Significant as the Gravesend Docker Raiding Party had left at 21.00 taking the Transmitter Crystal with them, a hidden spare was fitted and test transmissions began

Senior DJ on Radio City I remember the crew congregating at Harold Wood's, 'Wall Tavern', collecting supplies from Tony Pine's General Stores and music and DJ's from the office, Eric Martin's Record Centre then off we’d go to the harbour to board Fred Downs Harvester II for Shivering Sands

Coming ashore the crew would retire to Tom's Cabin at the rear of Stan and Floe's 'Guinea' to pick up their meagre wage. Tom was a pleasant easy going character and fine broadcaster, his passing marks another loss of the dwindling Radio City family

When Radio City closed for the fial time on 8th February 1967 Tom went to Caroline, then East Anglia BBC,followed by Radio 1 & 2, Thames TV as a continuity announcer, that part of his career will be documented by others - BLR
