SEPTEMBER 5th 2004:
OTWAY IN THE PARK

The weather was perfect for the 'really free' concert in the Vale Park, the aptly-named Park Life 2004.

There was a little concern to begin with, amongst members of the original 999-odd Abbey Road 'choir', that there might not be enough 'choir members' present to do justice to our Top Ten Hit B-side, 'House of the Rising Sun', but we needn't have worried, as our performance went perfectly.

A security woman with no sense of humour stepped in straight away when a small crowd of fans 'threatened to mob' guitarist Richard Holgarth. As any fan could tell you, Richard would have liked nothing better than to have upstaged Otway by being pulled off the stage!

Otway was discovered by a new generation of fans – youngsters who had not previously experienced his brand of rock 'n' roll lunacy. Attractive girls were queuing up afterwards to have their bare midriffs autographed by a 52-year-old rock star! (Above, right)!
