Chuck Blair aka Rick Phillips - exclusive photographs from 1977

Carleton Penn III, the stepson of Rick Phillips, has kindly sent two photographs

This is Rick with Carleton at his graduation from Randolph-Macon College, May 1977.

Rick's restaurant, The Black Oak, in Leesburg, Va. clearly had a 'British pub' theme. The business did well, but when Rick suffered a heart attack in the restaurant, he was told by doctors to sell it, as the stress and long hours were killing him. Rick is seated in front, the others in the group are, left to right, Carleton Penn III, Gladys Lincoln, Joe Dodd and Rick's then wife Nancy Phillips (Carleton's mother), who passed away in 1993. Carleton previously mentioned the Radio London poster hanging in the bar, which read: 'Who Is Chuck Blair?, Just ask any of his ??,000 listeners." This can be glimpsed on the wall between Joe Dodd and Nancy Phillips.
